Information - Cod Liver Oil

What is cod liver oil?

Cod liver oil is derived from codfish. Is a rich source of polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins A, D and E. Its difference from other fish oils is that it contains a smaller amount of omega-3 fatty acids while being rich in vitamins A, D and E.

What are its beneficial properties and health benefits?

Cod liver oil due to the omega 3 fats it contains can help reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, and protect the cardiovascular system. In addition, it protects the health of bones, skin, brain and eyes in children and adults due to the vitamins A and D it contains.

When do we take it and at what dosage?

There is no recommended daily dosage for corn oil. Because it contains ingredients other than Omega 3 it is recommended to take that daily dose which does not exceed the recommended maximum daily intakes for vitamins A, D, E which are 3000 IU, 3000 IU, 900 IU and 10000 IU, 4000 IU, 1500 IU for children and adults respectively. Most health and nutrition organizations recommend daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids of approximately 1 gram daily with EPA and DHA ranging from 100-500 mg. The highest daily intake is 3 grams for Omega 3. Cereal oil is recommended to be taken with or after eating for better digestion. The download time can range from 1-6 months.

Precautions and interactions:

People with coagulation disorders as well as people taking anticoagulants or aspirin should not take supplements with corn oil. Also its combination with herbs such as gingko biloba, garlic and ginseng should be avoided. Caution is needed while taking blood pressure medication. It can also worsen the symptoms of reflux. It does not affect uric acid.

Due to its vitamin A content, cod liver oil must be avoided during pregnancy and lactation.
