Properties

Garlic belongs to the genus Alium sativum and is rich in the antimicrobial substance alicin. It is known for its antimicrobial activity.

 

Benefits

It is traditionally used to:

  • regulate blood pressure

It also relieves the symptoms of the common cold.

There is no recommended daily intake for garlic.

 

Side effects/ Interactions/ Precautions during use

To be avoided by people with hypersensitivity to garlic, hypotension, or at the same time with antiviral, anticoagulant or antiretroviral drugs, as well as with antiplatelet therapy. Also, its supplementary intake should be avoided 7 days before scheduled surgery.

It is not recommended to take it as a supplement during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
