Information - Chlorella

What is chlorella?

Chlorella belongs to algae (seaweed) and is very rich in chlorophyll. We will usually find it in powder form or in pills, as a dietary supplement.

Benefits

It has a high nutritional value, since it is rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Studies have shown that it has a detoxifying effect, as it binds heavy metals and toxic substances.*

Dosage

There is no recommended daily intake for chlorella.

Side effects, interactions and precautions for use

Chlorella should be avoided by people taking anticoagulants. There are no studies on its safe use during pregnancy and breastfeeding and therefore it should be avoided. Taking chlorella during the summer months may worsen skin photosensitivity. In this case it should be combined with very high sun protection.
