What is Maca?

Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a plant of the Peruvian Andes, also known as Peruvian ginseng. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements and monoacids, and its edible part is the root (maca root).

 

Properties

It has been used traditionally for centuries as a source of energy and as an aid to libido and fertility. At the same time, studies show that it helps to:

  • reduce stress,
  • improve mood,
  • and sports performance.

Dosage

There is no set recommended daily intake for maca. Carefully read the instructions for taking each product, as the dosage may vary depending on the composition.

 

Side effects, interactions and precautions

Not to be taken by patients with hypotension or hypertension. Taking food supplements with maca during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.
