Information - Acne - Dark Spots
Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that causes white spots, blackheads or pimples on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest and arms. It is a common skin condition among adolescents, and often occurs in adults.
Symptoms
The symptoms of acne vary depending on the severity of the condition, some of which are:
- White spots (closed pores)
- Dark spots (open clogged pores)
- Small red bumps (bumps)
- Pimples (blisters), with pus on their ends
- Large, compact, painful lumps under the skin (nodules)
- Painful pus bumps under the skin (cystic lesions)
Causes
Four key factors that can cause acne:
- Excessive sebum production
- Hair follicles that are filled with oils and dead cells
- Bacteria
- Inflammation
In addition, there are some factors that can trigger flares:
- Hormonal changes (Androgens are hormones that increase during adolescence and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and produce more sebum. Hormonal changes during menopause can also lead to flares.
- Diet (Eating certain foods rich in carbohydrates or sugar can make acne worse)
- Anxiety (Often reported as a cause of rashes, redness and pimples)
Treatment
Treating acne starts with following a healthy lifestyle combined with specialized acne products.
Acne skincare routine
- First, apply a cleanser, gel morning and night.

- Add a facial serum to your routine to cleanse your pores and reduce imperfections.
