It offers comfort and efficiency, depending on the needs of everyone. It is ideal in:

  • Posterior runny nose
  • Allergies to dust-pollen, animal hair, vapors, grass, tobacco, etc.
  • Users of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices with sleep apnea.
  • Asthma
  • Snoring and sleep apnea
  • After rhinic surgery
  • For daily hygiene

Instructions of use

Read the enclosed instructions carefully before use, and follow them faithfully.

Important: NeilMed® Sinus Rinse Kids spare sachets should be used with NeilMed® Kids devices for best results.

Step 1: Wash your hands and rinse the device. Fill the bottle with 120 ml of lukewarm distilled, filtered or bottled water. Do not use tap water to dissolve the mixture unless it has previously boiled and cooled. You can heat the water in a microwave oven, but we recommend that you heat it for 5 to 10 seconds to avoid overheating, damaging the appliance or scaling your nasal passages.

Step 2: Cut the sinus rinse mixture pack in the corner and pour the contents into the bottle. Tighten the lid of the appliance. Place a finger over the hole in the lid and shake the bottle gently to dissolve the mixture.

Step 3: Stand in front of a sink, lean forward to your comfort level and tilt your head down. Keeping your mouth open and without holding your breath, apply the tip of the bottle tightly to your nasal passage. Gently squeeze the bottle until the solution begins to drain from the opposite nasal passage. A small amount of solution may come out of the mouth. For a proper rinse, continue to push the bottle until at least 1/4 to 1/2 (30-60 ml) of the bottle is used for each nostril.

Step 4: Blow your nose very gently, without completely squeezing your nose to avoid pressure on the drums. If tolerated, gently inhale any residual solution that remains in the nasal passage once or twice, as this may clear the posterior nasopharyngeal area, which is the area at the back of your nasal passage. Sometimes, a little solution gets to the back of your throat, so spit it out. To drain any residual solution, blow your nose gently while tilting your head forward and to the same side of the nasal passage you just rinsed.

Step 5: Now repeat steps 3 & 4 in your other nasal passage. If there is excess solution, discard it. We recommend that you make a fresh solution every time you want to use the neti pot.

Use twice a day or as directed by your doctor. Many doctors recommend washing 3-4 times a day. Follow your doctor's recommendation.

Cautions
  1. Read the Warnings in the instruction booklet before use. Adults should first read the instructions before using it on their children.
  2. Our recommendation is to replace the bottle every three months.
  3. Before using it for the first time, check the cap and the bottle for any damage or discoloration.
  4. Use soap and water to clean it and let it dry. Avoid the dishwasher, as it will not adequately clean the mouth of the bottle.
  5. The device can only be used for nasal washes. Do not use if your nasal passages are completely blocked or if you have an ear infection or blocked ears. If you have recently had ear or nose surgery, contact your doctor before use.
  6. If you feel pressure in the ears or burning in the nasal passages, stop using it and get further instructions from your doctor.
  7. Keep out of reach of children. Read and maintain the attached leaflet for instructions and other important information.
  8. Always use distilled or microfiltered (up to 0.2 micron) or commercially bottled or pre-boiled water (then leave it warm or at room temperature). Do not use tap water when using NeilMed nasal washers unless it has previously boiled and cooled.
  9. Use only Neilmed Sinus Rinse Kids sachets on NeilMed Kids Starter devices that contain a mixture of USP grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. These ingredients are the purest quality available to make the mixture. Rinsing your nasal passages with clean water only will result in a severe burning sensation.
  10. Caution: Avoid using homemade salt mixtures with NeilMed® medical devices. Homemade solutions can have incorrect concentrations, leading to insufficient relief or even nasal congestion. In addition, table salt and baking soda are not medicinal purity compounds for medical use and may contain impurities. The NeilMed® sinus rinse system is a high volume nasal rinse that provides 120mL of saline solution to the nasal passages. Adding a packet of NeilMed sinus rinse Kids in 120 mL (4 fl oz) of water will create an isotonic saline solution (Hypertonic with 2 or more packets) with balanced pH and without preservatives.
  11. Make sure you bow your head as shown in the photo in the brochure. Gently push the bottle, without applying too much pressure.
  12. We recommend that you use the rinse one hour before bedtime to prevent any solution residue from dripping down your throat.
  13. We strongly advise you not to use our kit on children or adults who have physical disabilities or mental disabilities due to developmental or acquired disorders. Patients who cannot stand or bend near the sink should not use this product. We advise you not to use this kit on patients who are in bed or have severe weakness.
  14. Do not swallow the solution. However, if you do it by mistake, there is no harm as the amount of sodium taken in is negligible.
  15. When using, keep your mouth open. Do not hold your breath while rinsing. Gently push the bottle while rinsing, not too hard.
  16. Stop rinsing if you feel a sensation of fluid near your ears.
  17. Most importantly: always blow your nose very gently.
  18. To avoid unexpected drainage after rinsing: In rare cases, especially if you have had sinus surgery, the saline solution may accumulate in the sinuses and nasal passages and then drip from your nostrils hours after rinsing. To avoid this harmless but annoying hassle, take an extra step after rinsing: lean forward, tilt your head to the side, and gently blow your nose. Then tilt your head to the other side and blow again. You may need to repeat it a few times. This will help get rid of excess mucus and remaining saline solution. If you often experience delayed drainage, do not rinse immediately before leaving your home or going to bed.
  19. Use only as instructed. If nasal symptoms persist, see your doctor.
