The Epsilon Health Acifolic (Folic Acid) 400 mcg nutritional supplement contains folic acid which together with vitamin B12 and vitamin C is essential for hematopoiesis in the body and for the prevention of anemia. It also acts as a cardioprotector since it helps to reduce the levels of harmful homocysteine, a substance associated with arteriosclerosis and myocardial infarction. Folic acid is also necessary during pregnancy as meeting the recommended daily dietary needs prevents abnormalities in the developing fetus. Deficiency of vitamin can cause anemia, nervous disorders, and decreased immune defense.
Epsilon Health Acifolic provides folic acid in a patented, biologically active form as the glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate. It is an effective form of folate for individuals unable to endogenously metabolize folic acid due to polymorphism in the MTHFR gene.
Folic acid contributes to tissue growth during pregnancy, to normal amino acid composition, to normal blood formation, to normal homocysteine metabolism, to normal psychological function, to normal function of the immune system, to reduction of fatigue and fatigue, in the process of cell division. Supplemental folic acid uptake increases maternal folate levels.
