Happy life freedom

Having a good life is important for your health and happiness. One of our deepest desires is to live a complete life.

In the age of the Internet, social media and a highly digitalized world, this desire has become less feasible. You may feel that you have lost touch with the things that make you happy or you may find it impossible to balance your career and personal life. Often the “trick” is to find something that gives us joy and the following six things will help you indirectly.

You have a purpose in life

One of the secrets of a happy life is to have goals. It is not good to feel that you have done everything in your life. In the past, philosophers believed that living life had a purpose – an idea called teleology. Do not wander aimlessly in life and do not live your days going back to the past. A study published in the journal Psychological Science showed that at any age, even among the elderly, those who had a sense of purpose in life had better health. It is unknown why having a purpose in life – whoever it is – we are happier and happier. Some believe that the existence of goals signals a satisfactory “reproductive potential”.

Eat healthy

What you eat affects each of your cells. Without a balanced, healthy diet, your body is more prone to disease, infection, fatigue and poor performance. A healthy diet will give you the nutrients your body needs to function properly, both physically and mentally, but you need to balance the foods that are considered healthy. Experts recommend lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts. Limit junk food and junk foods as much as you can, this will make you feel better and make better decisions for your life. The number of calories you take in daily also matters and junk foods will lead you to overeat. Aim for whole foods, not over-processed ones.

Exercise

Physical activity and exercise is one of the components of a good life and it becomes more important as you grow older. If you have been sedentary for years, start exercising slowly. In general, start with 10-minute sessions and gradually increase the duration. You do not need only aerobic exercise, as it was once thought. Weights, springs and generally resistance training help strengthen your muscles and bones and improve your balance and coordination. Many gyms and community centers today offer low monthly subscriptions and you can take advantage of the opportunities. And of course, there are not only gyms, there are many outdoor group activities.

Make sure you sleep well

Good sleep is just as important as physical activity and diet. Research shows that poor sleep has a direct negative effect on your hormones and brain function. It can also cause weight gain and an increased risk of disease. On the contrary, good sleep can help you eat less, exercise better and be healthier. In recent decades, the quality of sleep has declined and this has led to many problems that are now being discovered. If you want to have a better life during the day, quality night sleep is one of the most important things you can do. It cleans the “garbage” of the mind and makes you make better decisions.

Avoid toxic people

Psychological stress undermines the good life, causing from heart problems to premature aging. Stress reduces telomeres, the structures at the end of chromosomes, and this, in addition to making you look older than you, affects your health in many ways. It is important to avoid toxic people, those that make you feel worse after an interaction with them. Stress can make it difficult to control your emotions and this will affect your personal life – it can even lead to being overweight. Try to avoid situations that can spoil your good mood.

Get in touch with nature regularly

Make a commitment to spend more time close to nature, taking a walk on a wooded path or near the sea if given the opportunity. We evolved into an open, natural environment but today we have moved away from it, something that has a negative impact on our health and psychology. In the 1980s, Robert Ulrich, a professor at the University of Texas, watched patients undergo surgery and look either at trees through their window or at a wall. Those who overlooked the trees reported less pain and spent less time in the hospital. Since then, several studies have shown that contact with nature improves our bodily functions. Today, doctors in the UK and US are starting to prescribe “nature”.
