In the last days of the year we are used to setting many different goals for the new year, as if we are making a restart of life! Of course, every reboot is not easy and requires small steps for big changes.

This year, you can start taking care of yourself. Restart your skin and hair care. Try to define a treatment routine that suits and meets your needs.

The following tips will help you see a visible improvement in the skin of both the face and the body.

1. Proper application of cosmetics

The secret of the treatment is the application of a small amount of cosmetic composition so that it can be absorbed by the skin. Applying a larger amount can remain on the surface of the skin resulting in clogged pores. [1]

For the eye cream:

It is recommended to apply an amount equal to one pea to each eye.

For the serum:

Put an amount equal to 3 pumps of the pump.

For the moisturizer:

If you use a cream that suits your skin type, apply a pea-sized amount all over your face.

For the sunscreen:

Apply to clean skin, a grape-sized amount on the skin of the face.

2. Sun protection all year round

Sunscreen is the most important cosmetic, as it protects against premature aging (photoaging) of the skin in winter-summer.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of sunscreen with SPF15, or higher, that protects against UVA-UVB radiation. Also, for greater protection, it is recommended to apply the sunscreen evenly on all exposed parts of the body, 15 minutes before your exposure to the sun. Also, in exposed parts of the body such as the ears, nose, forehead and neck, it is necessary to apply sunscreen. [2]

According to WHO guidelines, it is a good idea to renew your sunscreen every two hours, especially after swimming or other sports activities. In addition, the use of a lip balm containing SPF protects against the negative effects of sunlight.

If you have oily skin you can choose a sunscreen that regulates oiliness and maintains the matte appearance of the skin. Alternatively, if your skin is normal to dry, choose a moisturizer with a high SPF and anti-aging ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid.

3. Express hydration

You can have a thermal water spray in your bag to spray on your face throughout the day! Its composition has a positive effect on the skin, thanks to the minerals and trace elements it contains.

The thermal water offers instant hydration, soft skin and enhances comfort. [3] It also contributes to cell renewal, while regulating collagen and elastic fibers in the skin, one of the three layers of the skin. [4]

4. Care for a youthful neck

Many believe that age is manifested by the throat. Wrinkles and sagging of the neck area are normal consequences of time. However, there are easy techniques to protect your neck from the signs of premature aging.

Watch the movements you make when using your mobile phone. Usually, the neck takes a bending position to look at your cell phone resulting in negative effects on the human body.

Initially, depending on the time you spend on the screen of your mobile phone, you may experience neck pain (“text neck” syndrome) or horizontal wrinkles in the neck. [5] When using your phone, it is advisable to place it in front of the face so that the neck is kept straight.

In addition, choose creams with a specialized composition, designed to deal with the signs of aging of the neck. For example, creams with retinol (vitamin A), which is considered a powerful anti-aging ingredient, help treat wrinkles. [6]

5. Strong & healthy hair

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends the use of emollient cream after each shampoo. Applying a conditioner can repair dry and damaged hair. It also helps reduce frizz, improves hair strength, while giving shine and protection from ultraviolet (UV) rays. [6]

In addition, taking vitamins, minerals and trace elements can help in case of hair loss. Their action is important in the normal growth and function of cells. Many studies have linked alopecia areata to low levels of vitamin D. [7]

Therefore, you need to know if you are deficient in micronutrients in order to take the right supplements for the optimal functioning of your body!
