Summer vacation packing list: what to pack in my suitcase?

13/07/2023

Summer is here, and most people have planned their vacation, while others are already on wonderful beaches. But, every year there is a certain question… What can I take with me in my suitcase? This is where we come to help you and give you the solution.

What to take with me on vacation?

For the beach

  • Sunscreen

Certainly the most important thing for our summer holidays is sunscreen, so that we can properly protect ourselves from the sun. This is how we will enjoy a wonderful tan, while staying safe. There is a variety of sunscreens with most being on the market with SPF30 and SPF50. You can find available, respectively, for both the face and the body.

  • After sun

There are times when even if you protect yourself from the sun, at some point you might forget it and redden a bit more. There, after sun plays an important role, which in addition to moisturizing our skin, also contributes to the relief of the symptoms of sunburn.

  • Hair sunscreen

Sea salt and the sun contribute to the deterioration of our hair. In addition, the daily hairwashing also stresses the hair. So a hair sunscreen is an ideal choice to keep our hair healthy and hydrated.

  • Beach kit

We shouldn’t forget to take our swimsuit, rackets, beach towel, sunglasses, flip flops and our favorite book to the beach.

Your cosmetics!

  • Moisturizing cream

Face cream is one of the most basic cosmetic products as our face is more dehydrated in such periods, compared to the winter months.

  • Blush, mascara, moisturizing lip balm with color

They are the essentials for a woman to look radiant as, in the summer, we prefer lighter make-up.

  • Make-up removal

It is very important to clean your face even when you don’t choose to use make-up. We may go to bed late on summer holiday nights, but we must not forget this step if we want fresh skin in the morning!

Personal hygiene products

  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste
  • Shampoo/Shower
  • Soap for the sensitive area
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Comb
  • Deodorant
  • Perfume
  • Mosquito repellents
  • Hair dryer
  • Hair straightener

If you don’t have much space choose travel size products!

What clothes to take on the trip

Depending on your destination, choose the most suitable clothes so that you feel comfortable all hours of the day. Prefer to make easy combinations to save space in your suitcase. Some options are:

  • Shorts/light t-shirts and dresses
  • Clothes for the beach
  • Total in case the weather is not as you hoped
  • Underwear
  • Pajamas
  • Hat
  • Watch/Jewellery
  • Evening and day bag
  • Shoes for night out
  • Flip flops for the beach
  • Low sandals for casual walks

Of course, we don’t forget a laundry bag.

First aid pharmacy

A first aid kit is always essential on your vacation as health is a priority for everyone. We recommend:

  • Alcohol
  • Painkillers
  • Sting stick
  • Thermometer
  • Pads for burns

You can find easily a first aid kit

Necessary documents & technology

Technology is very important to our everyday life. Required options are:

  • Mobile charger
  • Headphones
  • Power Bank
  • Camera

From documents you will need:

Children’s holiday list

Regarding the children’s holiday list, you could print a list for each child, so that they don’t forget something that will be necessary. Some options to consider are:

  • Night light
  • Comfortable clothes and slippers
  • Swimwear & Waterproof toiletry kit for wet swimwear
  • Sunscreen, mosquito repellent, children’s hat for the beach
  • Buckets
  • Thermometers/ Antipyretics/ Painkillers/ Syringe
  • Shampoo/ Shower gel/ Sensitive area cleaner for children
  • Saline, aspirator, swabs
  • Bibs / Pacifiers / Bottles
  • Water glass/ children’s bottle
  • Food & snack transport containers
  • Plate, spoon, fork, straw
  • Blender, kettle (to heat the milk)
  • Potty or toilet seat
  • Diapers, baby wipes, diaper changing cream
  • Baby/child body oil or body cream. Babies’ skin gets dehydrated very easily from the sun. Also, many babies happen to develop dermatitis in the summer.
  • Child health booklet
  • Jacket or windbreaker. It may be summer, but on a boat trip or in a more mountainous area, a jacket is always necessary
  • Board game or fairy tale
  • Monitor
  • Light summer blanket, because air conditioners are everywhere!
  • Wound care kit

What to take with me for the summer season?

Seasonal employment in the summer months for Greece is a frequent phenomenon as almost one member of each family leaves for the well-known season.

Also, an important part is sufficient energy. A multivitamin is a very good choice to keep our body energized so that it can cope with the daily demands of work.

In addition, it is very important to consider adequate hydration. Don’t forget to drink enough water during the day. A thermos can be a good choice so you can always have cool water with you.

We clearly do not forget the necessary documents that will be requested by your employer, as well as your laptop, cause … is always needed!

Essentials for traveling by plane

During holidays, using a plane very good options are:

  • Sleep mask
  • Sleeping pillow
  • Ipad for movies (in case you plan to take a long trip)

To avoid jet-lag we would recommend:

  • Melatonin. It helps regulate the wake-wake cycle, so taking it 20 minutes before bed will help reduce symptoms.
  • Water for continuous hydration

What to take with me on a day trip?

Certainly when you are going to make a day trip you need a lot less things compared to day vacations.

We suggest adding to a backpack:

  • Snack like a piece of fruit or a cereal bar
  • Water
  • A small pharmacy with all the essentials
  • Games or books in mini size
  • Wipes

Surely everyone knows better what is and what is not necessary for him. So add or remove things according to your circumstances and habits and make the perfect list for you

Have a nice summer!
