What is alpha lipoic acid?
Alpha lipoic acid is a sulfur cofactor that is synthesized in the human body. It is found in foods such as spinach, meat, liver and brewer's yeast.
Properties
It is a powerful antioxidant and booster of many other antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and glutathione. It also protects the body from the action of heavy metals.
Dosage
There is no recommended daily intake for alpha lipoic acid. Carefully read the instructions for taking each product, as the dosage may vary depending on the composition.
Side effects, interactions and precautions for use
Due to its hypoglycemic effect, it is not recommended to be taken by diabetic people without medical supervision, as well as with the simultaneous intake of antidiabetic drugs and insulin. Alpha lipoic acid has not been studied during pregnancy and breastfeeding and should therefore be avoided.
