Curcumin, the main active ingredient of the supplement (Turmeric), comes from the plant Curcuma longa and its name is due to the deep yellow color of the plant's rhizome. It belongs to the wider curcumin family and curcumin can be used daily in the diet through the consumption of spice curry. Curcumin has been extensively studied for its anti-inflammatory properties. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) have approved the use of turmeric as a traditional herbal digestive aid in cases of indigestion and bloating and biliary secretion disorders.

An important problem with curcumin is the difficulty in absorbing the component from the digestive system. Curcumin Ultra has been used to ensure maximum and fast absorption of curcumin. A CurcuWIN curcumin extract was made using Ultra SOL technology. The technology increases the bioavailability of curcumin, which is a fat-soluble compound, making it more water-soluble, thus better absorbable.

In a published controlled clinical trial (Jager et al.Nutr.J2014. Jan 24; 13 (1): 11) in which CurcuWIN was compared with classical curcuma extracts, CurcuWIN curcumin absorption was compared with curcumin. extracts were 46 times larger. In the same clinical trial, CurcuWIN was compared with two other "increased absorption" curcuma extracts and it was found that CurcuWIN curcumin was much more bioavailable compared to these formulations.
