Treat urinary tract infection with Modufame

28/11/2017

Urinary tract infections are a particularly troublesome condition of the urinary tract system. According to reports, women suffer from urinary tract infections 10 times more often than men, while about the 50% of women will have at least one infection in their life. Although it is relatively easy to treat them, two-thirds of people will reappear urinary tract infections within a short period of time after the first infection (recurrent infections).

Most of the time, urinary tract infections are treated with antibiotics, but it is known that antibiotics should be avoided. Instead, there are many dietary supplements that help treat urinary tract infections, without undesirable effects.

What Is Urinary Tract Infection?

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is defined the infection of urinary bladder, urethra or kidneys by pathogenic bacteria. They also known as urethritis, cystitis and pyelonephritis, respectively.

In most cases infections are due to bacteria Escherichia Coli, which normally colonizes the intestine. Pathogenic bacteria are removed with the urine and thus body is protected from urinary tract infections. However, if there is a weak immune system, bacteria enter the urinary tract, proliferate and cause infections and inflammation.

Urinary tract symptoms

The symptoms of urinary tract infection are:

  • increased burning sensation
  • pain during urination
  • imperfect feeling of urination
  • blood
  • frequent urination
  • bad odor of urine

In infections of the upper urinary tract such as pyelonephritis, then abdominal pain, weakness, fever and nausea may occur.

Treatment

Beta sitosterol

Beta-sitosterol belongs to the broadest group of sterols, which are naturally found in plants and fruits. In food supplements, beta-sitosterol is available along with its activator (BSS / BSSG). The actions of β-sitosterol are multiple. According to studies, β-sitosterol:

  • enhances immune system
  • reduces inflammation
  • reduces cholesterol
  • reduces the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia
  • has a potential anti-cancer effect

B-sitosterol has anti-inflammatory effects because reduces the secretion of various interleukins with inflammatory activity (IL-6) as well as TNF-A. It also helps body’s response to the disease as it affects the synthesis of hormones (DHEA) and cytokines that increase the secretion of cortisol, the main stress hormone.

It also has adjuvant properties as it helps to reduce infections by activating T-helper lymphocytes, the natural defense system of body. Β-sitosterol is indicated for people who get easily ill, have a reduced defense system, have history of autoimmune diseases and increased incidence of infections.

Cranberries

Cranberries are a category of red berries, which have strong antioxidant and antiseptic actions. They contribute to the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections. Their antibacterial action is due to polyphenols and flavonoids, such as proanthocyanidins (PACs) and anthocyanidins, which reduce the ability of pathogenic bacteria to adhere and proliferate in the urine.

Green Tea

Green tea is an antioxidant herb derived from Camellia Sinensis. Green tea contains polyphenols, known as catechines, which help prevent and treat urinary tract infection. The main catechin is the epigallocatechin (EGC), which has antibacterial activity. According to studies, green tea extract inhibits the proliferation of E. coli, thus helping to treat urinary tract infections. It has bactericidal action while providing very strong antioxidant protection.

Modufame for a strong urinary system

Modufame is a nutritional supplement that combines the effects of the above items and is indicated for women who are prone to urinary tract infections (cystitis, vaginitis). Thanks to its composition, Modufame:

  • enhances immune system
  • relieves the symptoms of urinary tract infection
  • prevents the recurrence of urinary tract infections

Interactions – Side Effects

B-sitosterol can lower levels of vitamin E. People with sitosterolism should not take sitosterol supplements, and if cholesterol-lowering drugs are taken, absorption of sitosterol may be reduced. People who take anticoagulants or aspirin should not receive Modufame.
