Cat’s claw, anti-inflammatory protection

  The Uncaria Tomentosa or otherwise known as the Cat’s claw, is a therapeutic plant traditionally used by natives in Peru and Brazil. It is the second plant after the Cinchona that caught the interest of botanologists and became one of the most popular herbs in the United States.

   It grows in tropical jungles of South America and it is called Cat’s Claw because it’s thorns are shaped like claws of cat. The therapeutic parts of plant are roots and bark. Cat’s Claw contains alkaloids, glycosides, proanthocyanidins and beta sterols which give many therapeutic properties. Oxindole alkaloid stimulates immune system and isopteropodine provides antioxidant protection towards free radicals. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that may help osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, as well as inflammation of intestine, such as gastritis, colitis, Crohn’s disease and haemorrhoids. Cat’s Claw can be administered either alone or in combination with other immune stimulants such as Echinacea.

  • Anti-inflammatory effects on joints and cartilages (arthritis and rheumatism)
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Antiparasitic action
  • Antiviral infections (colds or herpes)
  • Asthma
  • Chronic allergies
  • Hay fever and allergic rhinitis
  • Gonorrhea
  • Instestinal disorders

It should not be used by people with allergies to Rubiaceae plants family, by people who have had organ transplantation or by people who suffer from lupus. Daily dosage 250-350mg.
